\n \nAbout the Role
\nWe are seeking a Solution Architect with deep experience in IBM mainframe environments and modern AWS/Java/Spring Boot architecture. This role supports modernization and integration efforts within the Administration’s technology ecosystem.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n- Architect hybrid mainframe + cloud solutions using IBM z/OS, COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, DB2, and AWS services.
\n- Design modernization pathways for legacy workloads using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and AWS Mainframe Modernization.
\n- Develop integration patterns between mainframe systems and cloud-native applications (REST APIs, event-driven services).
\n- Lead solution design sessions with administrations stakeholders, engineering teams, and modernization partners.
\n- Translate legacy business logic into scalable, secure, cloud-ready architectures.
\n- Ensure compliance with federal security, audit, and federal IT standards.
\n- Support Agile delivery across multi-year modernization initiatives.
\n \nRequired Skills & Experience
\n- 10+ years working with IBM mainframe technologies (COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, DB2).
\n- 5+ years architecting AWS solutions (Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS PostgreSQL, IAM, KMS).
\n- Strong background in Java, Spring, Spring Boot, and enterprise integration.
\n- Experience with AWS Mainframe Modernization or equivalent migration frameworks.
\n- Ability to design strangler fig migration patterns and coexistence architectures.
\n- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with federal stakeholders.
\n- Must be able to work on site in Woodlawn, MD Monday–Friday.
\n \nPreferred Qualifications
\n- Prior experience federal entitlement programs.
\n- Experience with mainframe-to-cloud data migration (VSAM, DB2 → AWS RDS/S3).
\n- Familiarity with SSA’s environment and modernization roadmap.
\n- Experience with enterprise print systems (EPA) modernization.
\n- Background in Agile delivery within federal environments.
